Healthy Ways to Lose Weight Fast for a Big Event

We all have moments when we’ve known in the back of our minds that a special occasion was coming up, but we found ourselves forgetting all about it until was only a couple of weeks away. It could be a big corporate party or a vacation with a loved one or even a wedding. The closer that the event gets, the more that we find ourselves in semi-panic mode as we try to figure out how to lose a few pounds so that we can fit into the perfect outfit.

If this is your current dilemma, take a moment to breathe deeply. It may seem like it’s an impossible dream to lose weight fast for a big event, but the truth of the matter is that it’s actually a lot easier than you might think. All you need to do is apply these three tips below:

Eat smarter. Although it’s never really a good idea to eat fast food, if you’re trying to lose weight, you need to avoid it at all costs. You can easily pack on a thousand pounds with a combo meal at lunchtime. Instead, make a sandwich out of whole grain bread and some tuna or turkey meat, eat raw vegetables instead of French fries and wait until you get home to make a fruit smoothie instead of having an ice cream shake. Also, remember that there are some foods that will help you to lose weight including grapes, grapefruit, blueberries, papaya, squash, broccoli, cabbage, spinach and eggs. Speaking of eating smarter, also make sure to keep salty foods at bay; they help your body to retain water and give the look of being bloated (which we all try to avoid).

Drink (mostly) water. Our bodies are made up of mostly water and so that alone should inspire us to drink it more often. However, there are two other benefits that come with it as well. For one, it’s a liquid that has no calories in it and so no matter how much you drink, you will not gain any body fat. Also, it helps to naturally flush out the toxins in your body; ones that can also clog up your system and keep your metabolism running slower than it needs to. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you have to totally go without other drinks. Green tea is high in an antioxidant that is known as catechins that helps to kick your metabolism into high gear. If you have a juicer, you can also make your own apple or carrot juice; the fiber in them will also help you to lose weight. And if you are a big soda drinker, here’s an alternative: try going with some mineral water with a few drops of your favorite juice (to add a bit of flavoring) instead. You’ll get to enjoy the feeling of drink a soda without all of the sugar.

Exercise consistently. There is absolutely no way that you can lose body fat without doing some cardio and strength training. If you’re not a big fan of working out, the thing to remember here is that you don’t have to overdo it. There are teen girls all over the country who want to get into their prom dresses and gowns and all they need to do is run on a treadmill for 30-45 minutes 3-4 times per week while holding some free weights in their hands. You can do the same thing. Or, you can go bike riding, swimming or try some other form of cardio. It may seem a bit tedious at first, but after about a week, your pants will start to feel a bit looser, your face will appear a bit slimmer and you’ll realize that for only 30 minutes out of your day, the end results were well worth it.
